Our DIY ethos and love of broadcast has created a bond among our volunteers despite how widely different we are from one another. Below are some common questions about volunteering…

IS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED?

Many of our DJs had never produced a show before joining KORC. We can help you get acquainted with our software and how to create a weekly show from home. We can even help you get a microphone if needed! Aside from consistently releasing your show episodes (typically once a week) and abiding by certain FCC rules, we are very freeform and allow a lot of creative freedom!

DO I HAVE TO DJ A SHOW TO BE INVOLVED?

Several of our volunteers do not produce shows or DJ at all. Our crew includes folks with ham experience or a passion for fundraising. Some are interested in gathering news stories for others to anchor, while some only like to anchor! We also have board members with non-profit experience but do not have broadcast experience. We try to layer our skillsets together in ways that keep it fun for everyone while also being useful to the station.

HOW CAN I HELP EVEN IF I CAN’T COMMIT?

There are many ways to help the station without a weekly commitment. For one, you can always donate to us or encourage others to donate. We also put together fundraisers every few months and often need helpers for those events. We also often need performers for our fundraisers – take note, local bands!
